Well, it certainly looks like someone has been slacking off in their job since we haven't had an update for a couple of months now. ( Wonder who that could be?) There has been alot going on. Kent passed his outfitter's test in January and was awarded his outfitter's license in February, in Cheyenne by the State Board of Outfitters.Toni, Shirley and Kent went down to Cheyenne where Kent had to appear before the board and answer a few questions. He must have done really well. Kent received an 86 on his test. The lady at the State Outfitters Board said that was the best score they had seen in quite a while. Great Going Kent, We're Proud of You! The Sublette County Outfitters had already approved us at their February meeting. We are still in the process of buying the Nylander Creek camp and getting our various other permits from the BLM and the Forest Service. Kent came up with the name Triple Peak Outfitters, so that is what we are calling our outfitting part of our business. You can go to www.triplepeak.com  to view our web site. Eventually once we have our permits we will advertise for guided hunts and snowmaching.
Our plans for this summer are to rent a few horses so we can go up in the forest and put together a more solid foundation to our history program. So if you are planning to come out this summer there is a good chance you may be able to do some horseback riding. We'll be doing alot of cleanup around the ranch and building some new corrals. So if any of you were wondering where and how to spend your summer vacation have we got a deal for you.
As you can see from the pictures the boys have been busy. The place is coming right along.

This is the ditch for the power lines.

We thought we would cut cost an use the old Finnish bathhouse for our guests. Only kidding....

Kent and Travis have been busy putting in all the plumbing.

The bathtubs are in and all plumbed.

There will be a total of nine bathtubs in the lodge.

Hot and cold water.

This is the backside of the lodge. Don't worry there will be a staircase coming down from that second door.

The west side of the building has the five picture windows on the lower floor.

The new furnace is located off of the new pantry.

The crawlspace.

Heating vents.

Our beautiful double doors.

A view of the rafters, notice the insullation.

Pressure tank and water heater.

Furnace vent.

The larger bath downstairs.

The front of the building with the new double doors.

The guys' workroom, someday it will be the kitchen and dining area.

Progress Report

The lodge is coming along very well. For about the last month or so we have all been going up to the ranch on weekends and sometimes during the week to mud and tape the sheet rock. After we have finished mudding, taping and sanding each room. Travis, Vince and Kent come along and texture and prime the walls, then they work on the trim. The upstairs with the 8 bedrooms is almost done and we have begun working on the downstairs.

Around the middle of April, Corbin Ball was burning some willow on his ditch near South Cottonwood and since it was pretty hot and dry that day it caught the meadow in the school section on fire. Kent and Travis went to help fight it but when it jumped the creek and started up the hill in the sagebrush, they decided they had better call the fire department. There were five fires in the county that day all started with control burns. But since we didn't get as much snow this year things are pretty dry. Every fire department was out in the county that day. There were two fires near Daniel which were fought by the Daniel and Bondurant fire department. One up by Cora which Pinedale Fire Department fought, ours on South Cottonwood was battled by the Big Piney fire department. The fifth fire was up at Copeland's but they managed to get it out themselves. Pictures will be on the family section.

Vince has already made it up here to work and Cheryl will be coming soon, I think around the 18th of May. It will be good to have them here with us.

Kent has purchased several horses and I have bought one for myself. Those pictures will also be in the family section.

Pictures from April and May

This is one of the upstairs bathrooms. It had not been mudded and taped yet.

This is the insulation in the dining room downstairs.

This is one of the upstair's bedrooms. Notice what a wonderful job was done on the mudding and taping.

This is me (Laurel) mudding the ceiling.

Clint was our supervisor and inspector. A hard taskmaster but there is just no way to get fired from this job.

Kent and Travis are using a lift to help them put the sheet rock on the ceiling of the dining room. The ceilings are about 9' in the downstairs of the lodge.

Toni and I getting plastered! We actually did seem to get more on ourselves than on the walls

Keith and Cody are marking where the studs are so they can screw in the wall board.

Taking a break. Don't we look lovely?

Our work area downstairs is quite cluttered.
