The ranch was purchased in 1950 by a group of siblings.
They were Francis Moore, Ed and Helen O'Brien, Annette Profit and Shirley
Payne. It was a hot, dusty haying day, one full of breakdowns and problems,
Shirley was walking in from the hayfield after taking lunch to the crew
and not a little discouraged when she came up with a very fitting name:
"O'Briens' Moore Payne than
Profit Ranch".
